About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Buying Assistant to join our team at Screwfix. As a Buying Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Category Manager to achieve sales and margin targets through strategic activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with product range reviews and promotional activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Manage supplier setup and maintain accurate supplier information, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Address product, price, cost changes, catalogue & online errors, and quality issues promptly, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Provide regular updates to the line manager on progress and priorities, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Monitor competitor activity regarding products, pricing, and promotions, staying ahead of the market.
  • Handle product samples efficiently within the Product Centre, ensuring quality control.

Requirements

  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with a proven track record of meeting targets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; SAP experience is a plus, demonstrating technical expertise.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Previous experience in a retail Buying Head Office and a keen commercial awareness, understanding market trends.
