Position Summary:

The successful candidate will assist the Head of Loan Remediation in overseeing a diverse portfolio of sub-performing and non-performing assets. This role demands a high level of independence and requires expertise in financial analysis, legal frameworks, credit transaction oversight, and loan recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a designated portfolio of distressed loans to mitigate losses and enhance recovery values in accordance with established objectives.
  • Develop and propose effective loan workout strategies aimed at minimizing credit risk and optimizing returns.
  • Restructure credit facilities, including repayment schedules, while formulating strategies to secure collateral and monitor repayments.
  • Engage proactively with borrowers, lenders, and internal departments to gather pertinent information and prepare comprehensive analyses and recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure timely resolution of distressed loans.
  • Ensure accurate risk ratings for non-performing loans and timely preparation of Loan Remediation reports.
  • Maintain organized and secure records of all relevant information related to the Loan Remediation portfolio.
  • Verify that security packages for all loans are properly documented and updated with recent asset valuations.
  • Comply with the Bank's Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist the Finance Department by providing timely information for loan loss provisioning.
  • Work alongside legal counsel to initiate and manage legal proceedings related to loan enforcement.
  • Participate in relevant Bank committees to contribute to the credit assessment process.
  • Ensure that the Loan Remediation Unit operates under comprehensive guidelines and best practices.
  • Educate stakeholders on Loan Remediation policies and standards.
  • Establish reporting systems to monitor and manage Loan Remediation activities.
  • Prepare detailed Loan Remediation reports for Senior Management and the Board on a regular basis.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as directed by the Senior Manager of Loan Remediation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a postgraduate degree in Law, Business Administration, Banking, or Finance is preferred.
  • Professional qualifications in Law, Banking, or Debt Recovery are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a leading financial services organization, with a focus on credit management and loan recovery.
  • Proficient in analyzing and negotiating debt facility terms and navigating credit approval processes.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations and Loan Workout procedures.
  • Ability to manage challenging customer interactions and resolve issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of foreclosure laws and recovery processes for delinquent loans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and loan recovery applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities with a significant impact on operations.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.

Contractual Information:

  • Permanent position.
  • Relocation to Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire is required.
