About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Archive Conservator to join our Department of Collection Care at the British Museum. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the care and preservation of our world-class collection.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct thorough assessments of collection condition and develop effective environmental management solutions for long-term preservation.
  2. Lead the care of the collection through temperature and relative humidity monitoring, pollutant control, and light management, ensuring the highest standards of preservation.
  3. Develop and disseminate guidance on preventive conservation, collection care, and risk management to colleagues and stakeholders.
  4. Coordinate and improve the management and maintenance of the collection environmental monitoring system across the Museum's estate.
  5. Bring significant post-graduate experience in preventive conservation and a deep understanding of the heritage sector to this role.
  6. Plan and deliver your work objectives on time and to budget, demonstrating excellent project management skills.
