Project Archivist: Building Records

The Digital Preservation Coalition is seeking a skilled Project Archivist: Building Records to join our team. As a key member of our Collection Projects and Resources department, you will be responsible for a project to survey, appraise, catalogue, and digitise building records within our archive holdings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Appraise archival holdings and select items for retention or disposal.
  2. Arrange and catalogue selected archive holdings in accordance with ISAD(G) standards.
  3. Prepare selected items for digitisation and ensure compliance with preservation and conservation requirements.
  4. Provide access to archival holdings in line with guidance and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks.
  5. Support the Senior Archivist in the development and delivery of projects, including the archive catalogue system, user services, and conservation.
  6. Manage budgets and finances, including processing purchase orders and invoices, and budget monitoring.
  7. Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely payment and deliveries of material.
  8. Ensure compliance with the National Archives' Archive Service Accreditation, GDPR, and the Public Records Act.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of archival principles and practices.
  • Experience with digitisation and preservation of archival materials.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
