Paper Conservation Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paper Conservation Manager to lead our paper conservation studio at Royal Museums Greenwich. As a senior specialist conservator, you will be responsible for the conservation and preservation of our extensive and diverse paper-based collections.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the paper conservation studio and supervise the work of the paper conservation team.
- Oversee professional development and welfare of team members.
- Enable the delivery of exhibitions and loans programme by providing condition assessments and undertaking complex conservation treatments.
- Advise on timescales for conservation and mounting of objects for display.
- Assist with gallery installs and rotations.
- Conduct site visits and courier trips as required.
- Substantial practical experience of conservation of paper-based collections in a gallery, museum, library, or archive setting.
- Experience of coordinating and preparing items for loans and exhibitions.
- Experience of supervising, managing and motivating staff or volunteers.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate complex issues effectively.
- Computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft applications and museum collections management systems.
Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites, including the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen's House. What We Offer- A full-time, permanent role in Band 4.
- Core hours of work will be 36 per week, working 5 days between the hours of 8am-4pm.
- Flexible hours can be agreed with line management.
- A salary of £42,000.
