Position Overview

The Child Maintenance Service plays a vital role in supporting families during challenging times. Our objective is to assist parents who are unable to establish private financial arrangements for their children's living expenses, ensuring they fulfill their legal obligations to provide financial assistance. Our mission is to ensure that financial resources reach children, significantly impacting their lives.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be accountable for:

  • Overseeing project(s) with suitable methodologies and governance frameworks.
  • Identifying and assessing project risks and challenges, ensuring effective risk management plans are implemented and monitored.
  • Engaging with project stakeholders and developing comprehensive communication strategies.
  • Building and managing project teams, including engaging with specialists and suppliers as necessary.
  • Planning, developing, and executing all project requirements, along with producing necessary documentation.
  • Identifying and managing impacts to ensure project objectives align with business needs.
  • Monitoring progress against plans and reporting through established governance structures.
  • Staying informed about other initiatives within the organization to facilitate contingency planning.
  • Commissioning and overseeing work from various business areas and suppliers.
  • Implementing changes effectively within Child Maintenance Service Operations.
  • Ensuring all deliverables adhere to the Change Lifecycle for successful project continuation.
  • Preparing communication strategies to keep all relevant business areas informed and engaged.
  • Providing line management to project support colleagues, offering guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.

Occasional business travel may be required between key sites in the future.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM practitioner, or equivalent qualifications and significant experience in managing complex projects, particularly in business change and IT environments.
  • Proven ability to meet challenging deadlines while effectively prioritizing tasks based on available evidence and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with governance and risk management frameworks, including engagement with high-level governance forums.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, capable of translating high-level strategies into detailed operational plans.
  • Inclusive leadership skills, with a track record of building high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to influence decision-making processes.
  • A commitment to enhancing service delivery for customers, improving efficiency, and maximizing value for taxpayers.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working within large, complex organizations.

Working hours are structured from 07:45 to 20:00, Monday to Friday, and 08:45 to 17:00 on Saturdays, with specific hours based on contractual agreements. Flexible working options are available.
