Job Title: Clinical Academic Pharmacist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our team of rotational Clinical Pharmacists at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical pharmaceutical services within the specialties to promote safe and cost-effective use of medicines.
  • Monitor prescribing practices and provide feedback and recommendations to improve standards and guidelines.
  • Support the development and review of prescribing guidelines within the units, taking into account local and national policies and procedures.
  • Deputise for Senior Specialist Pharmacists in attending unit meetings, clinical governance meetings, and reviewing monthly drug expenditure.
  • Provide dispensary support to ensure timely turnaround of in-patient and discharge medicines for patients within the specialties.
  • Liaise with Operational Manager, Senior Pharmacists in Dispensary and Manufacturing to identify issues and implement processes to ensure efficient and smooth delivery of medicines to the wards.
Requirements:
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
  • Non-Medical Prescriber.
Experience/Knowledge:
  • Experience providing a clinical service to a specialist area, such as rheumatology, dermatology, surgery, intensive care, neurology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, metabolic, PN, renal, commissioning, and general paediatrics on the private wards.
  • Experience of writing and updating local guidelines.
  • An understanding of the pharmaceutical issues of the specialist areas.
  • Training and supervising staff.
