Job Title: Advanced Pharmacist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Pharmacist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and providing specialist clinical pharmacy services to Gastroenterology.

Job Overview

The post holder will work closely with the Principal Pharmacist to develop and implement clinical pharmacy services that meet the needs of the Care Group. This will involve:

  • Acting as a specialist role model and expert in medical management within Gastroenterology.
  • Leading and managing clinical pharmacy services in Gastroenterology.
  • Participating in outpatient clinics to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Ensuring a high level of clinical pharmacy input to the care of patients within Gastroenterology.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Acting as a specialist practitioner within the field and as an expert pharmacist in the Gastroenterology Care Group.
  • Promoting and delivering pharmaceutical care for Gastroenterology Care Group patients.
  • Providing highly specialized and complex evidence-based clinical advice and information to pharmacy, nursing, medical, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participating in and contributing to the clinical/ward pharmacy service.
  • Practicing as an independent prescriber, in area of own expertise, as appropriate and providing direct high-quality care to inpatients and outpatients within scope of practice.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MPharm (Masters Degree)
  • Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy
  • Experience of supervising others
  • Experience of protocol/guideline development
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Able to motivate self and others
