HR Generalist for Field Operations

Position: HR Generalist for Field Operations
As a key member of the HR team, reporting to the Field Human Resources Manager, you will serve as the primary contact for all HR-related inquiries. Your role encompasses a variety of HR functions including talent acquisition, performance management, onboarding, employee relations, and adherence to policies and procedures. You will provide essential HR guidance and support to both employees and management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist managers with comprehensive case management for employee relations issues.
- Guide and support management regarding the company’s absence policies.
- Oversee long-term absence cases, facilitating return-to-work processes or terminations, including referrals to occupational health services.
- Coach and advise line management on disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Deliver training sessions to ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Facilitate effective communication and implementation of HR policies, including parental leave and flexible working arrangements.
- Promote and enhance employee engagement initiatives.
- Direct employees to appropriate support resources as needed.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with unions and agency partners.
- Collaborate with line managers to coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, shortlisting, interviews, and exit interviews.
- Work with the broader organization to develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding process for new hires.
- Manage and track the completion of probationary and performance reviews.
- Support the Early Career Framework and Apprenticeship initiatives.
- Generate, analyze, and present monthly and ad-hoc HR reports, including metrics on turnover, absenteeism, and diversity.
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of HR databases and systems.
- Contribute to the development of an HR framework, including the design of forms, processes, and templates.
- Implement wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement strategies.
- Assist the HR and management teams with various HR projects and initiatives as required.
- Uphold company values in all interactions with employees, clients, and external partners.
- Collaborate with management on succession planning and talent development.
- Prepare payroll data in accordance with payroll schedules.
- Participate in compliance audits as necessary.
Qualifications:
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards) or equivalent qualification.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
- Experience with the complete recruitment cycle.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement in business processes.
- Exceptional customer service skills with adaptable communication styles.
- Commercial awareness, particularly within a manufacturing context.
- Experience in dealing with union representatives.
