Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer to enhance our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will deliver on-site technical assistance and maintenance services to our clientele. This position demands a robust technical foundation coupled with outstanding problem-solving capabilities.
Role Overview
The Field Service Engineer operates in the field, either independently or as part of a two-person team, ensuring that our customers' materials handling equipment is serviced, compliant with regulations, and safe for operation. Given our role in designing, manufacturing, and installing a variety of materials handling solutions across diverse sectors, it is crucial to manage and maintain the lifespan of this equipment on behalf of our clients. The engineer will primarily work with industrial vacuum lifters and must possess exceptional mechanical engineering expertise. The ability to diagnose and resolve issues, navigate unfamiliar challenges, and ensure equipment safety and compliance is essential. Experience with pneumatic systems is a plus. As the face of Palamatic to our customers, the Service Engineer must maintain a professional demeanor at all times, communicate clearly and promptly, and adhere strictly to all Health & Safety regulations. This role may require overnight travel within the UK and potential training visits to our parent company in Germany.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned servicing of vacuum tube lifting systems across various industries.
- Perform installations of Palamatic equipment on-site.
- Provide breakdown services for all related equipment.
- Execute upgrade installations and subsequent maintenance.
- Train operators on equipment usage.
- Manage van stock parts and maintenance schedules.
- Complete written reports in a timely manner.
- Relay feedback on design and manufacturing issues to Palamatic.
- Support colleagues on-site by sharing expertise.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods as necessary.
- Complete timesheets and expense claims accurately.
- Manage tools and equipment on-site.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar capacity.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems (knowledge of pneumatics is advantageous).
- Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fork Lift Truck certification.
- National Safety Passport.
- IPAF and PASMA certifications.
- LOLER training.
