Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled HR Operations Specialist to join our team at Sonoco. As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for providing HR support and guidance to employees and managers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and support managers with full case management on employee relations cases.
  • Advise and aid managers with all aspects of our company's absence policy.
  • Manage any long-term absence for a return to work or terminations, including occupational health referrals.
  • Support, coach, and challenge line management with disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Assist in delivering training to line managers to ensure they understand and comply with HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide HR administrative support across the entire employee lifecycle.
  • Support the effective communication and implementation of HR policies such as parental leave, flexible working.
  • Support and drive employee engagement across the organization.
  • Signpost employees to relevant support where applicable.
  • Build positive and effective relationships with unions and agency suppliers.
  • Support line managers in coordinating end-to-end recruitment campaigns, including preparing job adverts, facilitating shortlisting, interviews, and carrying out exit interviews.
  • Work with the wider business to incorporate and implement a full onboarding process for new hires, including any relevant occupational health audio testing or driver assessments.
  • Coordinate and follow up the completion of probationary and performance reviews.
  • Support the Early Career Framework and the Apprenticeship program.
  • Produce, interpret, and present monthly, end-of-year, and ad-hoc HR KPIs and reports.
  • Accurately and timely administer and maintain all HR databases and systems.
  • Support the development of an HR framework for the business, including designing forms, processes, systems, and templates.
  • Ensure wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement initiatives are carried out.
  • Support the wider HR and management team in all aspects of HR projects and initiatives as required.
  • Promote company values in all dealings with other employees, clients, contractors, and other external contacts.
  • Work with Plant Managers on succession planning and talent management.
  • Prepare payroll data in line with payroll cut-offs.
  • Participate in audits such as BRC and ethical audits.

Requirements:

  • CIPD level 5 qualified (or working towards) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practice and legislation and how to apply this.
  • Working knowledge of the end-to-end recruitment process.
  • Proactive approach to continuous business improvements.
  • High level of customer service with the ability to bend and flex communication style accordingly.
  • Good commercial awareness within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of dealing with unions.
