The Commando Raiding Group Royal Marines plays a pivotal role in maintaining the Commando Force's amphibious capabilities. Within this group, the Squadron facilitates trials and development of cutting-edge amphibious equipment, delivering specialized training on various vehicles and vessels to project and sustain forces from the sea.

The Craft Maintenance Supervisor is essential in ensuring we achieve our goals by overseeing all equipment documentation and corrective maintenance of craft, which is vital to meet the demands of operational readiness. This position is busy, engaging, and critical to our ability to conduct current and future operations safely and efficiently.

Role Responsibilities

The Craft Maintenance Supervisor will provide vital support for the maintenance and inspection of Craft equipment, directly contributing to the output of the Squadron.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the proper maintenance of Craft.
  • Supervising and documenting routine and corrective maintenance of machinery and associated systems.
  • Maintaining detailed records to comply with audit and assurance requirements using appropriate MOD IT systems, with full training provided.
  • Acting as Deputy Harbour Master.
  • Serving as Deputy Building Manager.

There may also be opportunities to collaborate with other units to fulfill job responsibilities, which could involve occasional overnight stays for which travel and subsistence allowances will apply, in accordance with existing policies.

Candidate Profile

As the Craft Maintenance Supervisor, you will collaborate with various departments to support Amphibious Trials and Training, assisting the Landing Craft Utility crew with basic maintenance or supporting lifting operations, sometimes during unsocial hours, for which additional compensation will be provided per current MOD policy.

You will also be tasked with sourcing necessary equipment spares to ensure operational continuity.

Depending on your experience and qualifications, travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary to complete essential training for the role.

Licensing Requirements

A full UK driving licence with Category B entitlement is required due to the remote nature of the operational site.
