About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Adult Psychiatrist to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Community Mental Health, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our community mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment plans for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective care and support to patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, taking into account the bio-psycho-social needs of patients.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies, ensuring that they are aligned with best practice and patient needs.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their professional development.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit and research projects, to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Excellent clinical skills, using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wider medical knowledge.
  • Ability to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a community mental health setting, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care and contributing to service development.
