About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Adult Psychiatrist to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Community Mental Health, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our community mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment plans for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective care and support to patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, taking into account the bio-psycho-social needs of patients.
  • Contribute to the development of our community mental health services, including the design and implementation of new initiatives and programs.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit and research projects, to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
Requirements
  • General medical qualification (e.g. MBBS or equivalent) and a Licence to Practise.
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent (e.g. membership of a psychiatry college in another country).
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Excellent knowledge in specialty, with evidence of effective multidisciplinary team involvement.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wider medical knowledge.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Make decisions based on evidence and experience, including contribution of others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
