Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our clinical administration team as a Support Medical Secretary within the Specialist Medicine Business unit. This role is essential in providing administrative support to our Neurology department, ensuring the smooth operation of our services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective communication across various departments to deliver a comprehensive administrative service.
  • Manage and resolve inquiries promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information at all times.
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of regular and ad hoc reports and data as requested by management.
  • Utilize IT applications to monitor, prepare, and validate necessary databases.
  • Actively participate in team and departmental meetings to enhance collaboration.
  • Handle telephone inquiries from patients with professionalism.
  • Type and dispatch clinical correspondence related to NHS medical patients, adhering to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Coordinate effectively with relevant wards and departments, as well as with patients and other healthcare providers, to ensure seamless communication.
  • Understand and comply with the 18-week Referral to Treatment (RTT) process and the Trust Patient Access Policy, with training provided.

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE A-C or equivalent qualifications.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Experience in an office environment or a busy administrative setting.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and data entry.
  • Experience in handling telephone communications.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Typing experience.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
