You will be an integral part of our innovative and dynamic team, which includes Clinical Pharmacists, administrative staff, and support personnel. Our Lead Clinical Pharmacist brings over 30 years of experience in both private and community pharmacy settings, including extensive expertise in Primary Care Clinical Pharmacy, ensuring you receive the support and mentorship necessary for your professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture effective working relationships with healthcare professionals across Southern Derbyshire.
- Build rapport with patients to enhance their healthcare experience.
- Oversee specific areas within GP clinical pharmacy, managing systems and processes to ensure service delivery.
- Maintain your pharmacist registration and adhere to professional standards while managing your own caseload.
- Ensure personal indemnity insurance is current, including vicarious liability coverage.
- Collaborate with the practice to plan and organize your workload effectively.
- Comply with all organizational and legal requirements, including health and safety, equality, confidentiality, and clinical governance.
- Perform additional duties as required, commensurate with your role and experience in collaboration with the GP practice.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical pharmacy support to the practice.
- As an independent prescriber, you will operate within your professional boundaries, collaborating with a team of pharmacists in a general practice setting. You will receive guidance from a clinical pharmacist manager who will mentor and support your professional growth.
- Engage in a patient-facing role as part of a multidisciplinary team, taking charge of chronic disease management and conducting clinical medication reviews to manage patients with complex medication regimens.
- Serve as the primary resource for general practice staff regarding prescription and medication inquiries, supporting the repeat prescription process and ensuring safe prescribing practices.
- Lead initiatives in medicines optimization and quality improvement, managing aspects of the quality and outcomes framework.
- Facilitate integration between community and hospital pharmacy services to enhance patient outcomes and streamline healthcare access.
Qualifications and Experience

Desirable Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience.
- In-depth therapeutic knowledge and understanding of evidence-based healthcare principles.
- Familiarity with the dynamics of general practices and primary care prescribing.
Qualifications
Essential
- Master’s degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent.
- Independent prescriber qualification.
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
- Specialist knowledge through postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Membership in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
- Progress towards Faculty membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

- Self-motivated and adaptable.
- Current CRB check.
- Safeguarding training for adults and children.
- Up-to-date immunization status.
Desirable
- Full driving license.
- Completion of the Information Governance toolkit.
