Key Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will collaborate with a vibrant team to implement enhancement and service delivery initiatives that support clinical, operational, and administrative leaders within the organization. The individual will be an integral part of the Co-ordination Cell within the Strategy Directorate, providing structured project management for designated initiatives, ensuring that setup, governance, and execution are effectively managed.

Reporting to a designated member of the Co-ordination Cell Leadership Team, the individual will spearhead a diverse array of projects aimed at achieving clear outcomes and delivering financial and quality improvements within established timelines, adhering to recognized management principles. This role will involve the creation of plans and documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all objectives are met, risks are mitigated, and benefits are realized from the implementation of new clinical models and operational methodologies.

Proudly independent and central to our community, we operate a 300-bedded District General Hospital, providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, women's, and children's services to a population of 300,000. Our busy Emergency Department serves over 80,000 patients annually, and our well-regarded Maternity Unit facilitates approximately 2,000 births each year.

Job Duties

The Program Coordinator will work within the Strategy and Service Improvement Directorate, collaborating with Heads of Service, Program Leads, and Project Managers to support the coordination of the Trust's Improvement and Recovery Programs.

The role will directly contribute to enhancing clinical services and advancing the Trust's business objectives. The individual will engage in a wide variety of projects, ranging from IT initiatives to direct patient care improvements, working alongside multidisciplinary teams from diverse backgrounds. The key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the execution of assigned improvement program areas, collaborating with clinical and managerial colleagues to achieve successful outcomes that enhance patient and service user safety and quality.
  • Planning and organizing activities to align with the strategic direction of the project portfolio, ensuring that service improvements are both achievable and sustainable.
  • Coordinating the development of new pathways, processes, protocols, and policies to facilitate change management initiatives.
  • Proactively monitoring project progress, identifying issues and risks, and implementing corrective actions as necessary, in accordance with governance standards.
  • Producing regular and ad hoc reports to communicate progress, highlight challenges, and promote the program's contributions to significant projects.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in developing plans and implementing innovative working methods.
  • Experience in establishing and executing internal processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects and drive change in complex environments.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare sector, including its structures, policies, and strategic issues.
  • Experience in fast-paced project environments.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively to achieve common goals.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with staff and stakeholders in challenging settings.
  • Evidence of service development or innovative practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proven success in effective project and program management.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience in delivering change management within the healthcare sector.
  • Experience as a project manager, including change management and service redesign.
