About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Officer to join our team at Cheshire West and Chester Council. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for managing and determining complex planning applications, working closely with our planning enforcement and policy teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and determine complex planning applications, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with planning enforcement and policy teams to ensure effective delivery of planning services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including developers, community groups, and other council departments.
  • Conduct site visits and attend remote meetings to gather information and assess planning applications.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries and concerns from the public and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in planning, preferably in a local authority environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex planning policies and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car, for site visits and other work-related activities.
