Position Overview

The Cancer Programme of Care is actively seeking two Clinical Radiotherapy Fellows who can commit to at least two clinical sessions per week, with some flexibility in scheduling. These fellows will play a pivotal role in spearheading national quality enhancement initiatives within the field of radiotherapy.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of the Clinical Radiotherapy Fellows is to collaborate within the national cancer programme of care, focusing on specialized commissioning. The fellows will assist in the execution of the NHS Long Term Plan commitments for radiotherapy, primarily through the Radiotherapy Clinical Reference Group, the Learning Healthcare System, and the national clinical policy team. The fellow sessions will be dedicated to facilitating the transition of radiotherapy improvement priorities to local healthcare systems.

Essential Duties

The fellows will be responsible for:

  • Leading national quality improvement projects in radiotherapy.
  • Supporting the implementation of quality improvement toolkits and technologies into routine clinical practice.
  • Engaging with key partner organizations to enhance understanding of clinical leadership within the national context.
  • Collaborating with the Cancer Programme of Care Team to ensure effective support and guidance.

Mentorship and Support

The fellows will receive mentorship from the National Clinical Director for Cancer, along with support from the Radiotherapy National Specialty Advisor. This mentorship will be instrumental in developing their understanding of clinical leadership within the national framework.
