Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated clinical scientist to become a part of our Radiotherapy Physics team. This role is focused on providing essential support in the realm of radiotherapy, particularly in the areas of computational methods and dosimetry.

Key Responsibilities

The primary function of this position is to assist in the operations of the Radiotherapy Physics department. The successful candidate will engage in various tasks related to Radiotherapy Physics and will receive training in relevant techniques. Daily responsibilities will be overseen by the designated Principal Physicist or Lead Dosimetrist.

Specific duties include:

  • Conducting routine and advanced treatment planning for external beam radiotherapy.
  • Performing dosimetry calculations in line with clinical prescriptions and established protocols.
  • Evaluating treatment parameters and patient dose effects to ensure optimal dose distribution.
  • Providing guidance to clinical staff regarding treatment plan options and their implications on patient dosimetry.
  • Assisting with the provision of physics support for brachytherapy treatments.
  • Engaging in quality assurance and routine dosimetry measurements.
  • Contributing to the commissioning and clinical application of new treatment technologies.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • A good (1st or 2nd class) Honours degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • A relevant MSc or higher degree.
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or the ability to achieve this within a specified timeframe.
