Job Summary

A new position is available within the Radiotherapy Physics department at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust for a Senior Radiotherapy Physicist. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical physics and have experience in radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Participate in the routine support of the radiotherapy physics service, including treatment planning, dosimetry, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee and maintain specific aspects of the physics service, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement radiotherapy treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of radiotherapy treatment protocols, ensuring compliance with national and international guidelines.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on radiotherapy-related matters, including treatment planning, dosimetry, and quality assurance.

Requirements
  • Hold a relevant honors degree in physics or a related field and a relevant MSc or higher degree or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Scientist and certified as a Medical Physics Expert on the national register.
  • Have a strong background in radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery, including experience with linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and dosimetry equipment.
  • Be able to communicate complex information to healthcare professionals and equipment manufacturers.
  • Be able to exercise initiative and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Corporate membership of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) or eligibility for membership.
  • Chartered scientist (CSci) or eligibility for the award.
  • Relevant clinical experience in radiotherapy physics post-registration.
  • Broad knowledge of applied radiation physics and associated areas within medical physics.
