Job Summary

Mercy Corps is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to fill the role of Head of Finance, Operations, and Compliance. This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, operations, and compliance for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial plans and forecasts to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and growth.
  • Lead the development of budgeting and financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with donor regulations.
  • Oversee the management of financial resources, including cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations, as well as other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Lead the development of risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure the organization's financial stability.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Provide financial and operational guidance to program managers and staff to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive financial management experience, including supervisory experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in grants management and donor regulations.
  • At least 3 years of international experience, preferably in a non-profit or humanitarian organization.
  • Strong accounting skills and experience, including management of the general ledger, journal entries, payroll, payables, and balance sheet.
  • Prior management experience and strong organizational skills, including managing staff in remote locations.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Internationally recognized qualification in project or program management.
  • Experience working with financial software and systems, including budgeting and financial reporting tools.
Accountability

The Head of Finance, Operations, and Compliance will be responsible for ensuring the financial and operational integrity of the organization. This position will report directly to the Managing Director and will work closely with the senior management team to achieve the organization's goals.
