As a Senior Financial Manager within our Financial Services division, you will be part of a dedicated and dynamic team focused on delivering exceptional service and driving continuous improvement.

About You
In the role of Senior Financial Manager, you will:

  • Cultivate credible and collaborative relationships with senior management and stakeholders, addressing their needs while providing constructive challenges.
  • Utilize your analytical and communication skills to present clear financial insights and options to decision-makers.
  • Independently resolve issues and effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Lead a small team of Finance Business Partners, guiding them to focus on key priorities and inspire them to reach their full potential.
  • Possess a solid understanding of essential financial processes relevant to a Local Authority.
  • Hold a recognized CCAB qualification or equivalent, with substantial experience in a senior finance role.

About the Role

We are looking for proactive individuals to join our esteemed Financial Services team as Senior Financial Managers.

  • Your role will involve building and maintaining strong relationships with Chief Officers, supporting them in creating, executing, and monitoring effective budget plans while offering professional guidance on sound financial practices.

Job Purpose

  • Deliver comprehensive financial management services to senior officers within directorates or schools, embodying the Council's values to achieve our ambition of being the best council in the country.
  • Ensure that financial information is integral to decision-making processes, contributing to the Council's efficiency and enterprise.
  • Support transformational projects within financial management, overseeing service areas and leading initiatives to evaluate costs, benefits, and risks.
  • Provide expert financial guidance and management information to support effective decision-making.
  • Collaborate with senior officers to produce annual budgets, budget action plans, and timely financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Finance Business Partners, delivering a range of financial support services.
  • Foster a culture of performance management within the Finance Leadership Team.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with members and senior managers, acting as a 'Trusted Advisor'.
  • Oversee the application of a risk-based approach to budget monitoring.
  • Ensure alignment between service plans and financial strategies.
  • Provide strategic financial advice at leadership meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Hold a relevant CCAB qualification or equivalent, with experience in a senior finance role.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
