Spencer Clarke Group is collaborating with a local authority to recruit Educational Support Coordinators who will work with small groups of students exhibiting anti-social behavior.

Primary Objective:
To oversee and mentor learners, eliminating obstacles to education to foster effective engagement, enhance individual learning experiences, elevate aspirations, and assist students in reaching their maximum potential. Supervise the Learning Mentor and support students in their transition from KS3 to KS4.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee and mentor learners participating in alternative educational provisions.
  • Gain insight into the school curriculum, alternative educational pathways, and the pastoral care framework.
  • Develop strategies to recognize early signs of disengagement and execute appropriate interventions.
  • Train and prepare staff on integrating these strategies into everyday practices.
  • Assist the student support team in tracking attendance, addressing truancy, and supporting at-risk students.
  • Collaborate with the Project Lead to manage a caseload of students and initiate projects and re-integration strategies.
  • Address unexpected classroom incidents requiring immediate intervention.
  • Establish strong mentoring relationships and promote participation in educational opportunities.
  • Facilitate student withdrawal and re-integration processes.
  • Act as the primary contact for child protection concerns.
  • Oversee personalized action plans for students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate barriers to learning, including mentoring resources.
  • Share effective practices within local networks and partner organizations to enhance pastoral care services.
  • Coordinate with external agencies on matters such as substance misuse, sexual health education, bullying, self-harm, mental health, and child protection.
  • Engage in regular meetings to discuss progress and strategies.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times within the Learning Hub.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Commitment to obtaining and enhancing relevant qualifications/training.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with young individuals, particularly those with Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Difficulties (BESD).
  • Understanding of complex child protection issues and protocols.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviors effectively.
  • Proficient IT skills and capability to collaborate with supporting services in both statutory and voluntary sectors.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Teaching Qualification (Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, PGCE, or Cert Ed).
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience with vocational qualifications such as BTEC, NVQs.
  • Prior experience with youth service partner organizations.
  • Familiarity with local districts and partner agencies in youth services.
