Position Overview
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lead Project Coordinator to oversee a range of significant strategic initiatives during a transformative period within the organization. This role involves managing several high-stakes projects from their initial stages through to completion across diverse clinical and administrative environments. The position is primarily based at our headquarters, with necessary travel to various NHS locations as part of the responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in the healthcare sector, demonstrating a successful history of project execution. Strong communication skills, proven leadership capabilities, and experience in matrix management are essential for this role. The Lead Project Coordinator should hold a PRINCE2 practitioner certification and be committed to enhancing the professional development of the team through constructive feedback and personal growth opportunities, ensuring that all team members achieve project deliverables to a high standard, within the specified timeframe and budget.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be accountable for the planning and execution of various strategic clinical projects, which include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing a comprehensive program aimed at updating clinical technologies within laboratories across the Trust, which encompasses a complex array of sub-projects, supported by a knowledgeable subject matter expert.
- Reporting on project activities, progress, risks, and issues to relevant project and program stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing a technology refresh strategy for clinical laboratory equipment, including analyzers, scanners, and point-of-care devices.
- Managing ad-hoc clinical technology projects as directed by the program manager or senior leadership team.
The appointee will ensure that all projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the agreed quality standards that align with business objectives. Collaboration with key stakeholders from both the business and the Digital Diagnostics Program is crucial, as is working closely with other Program and Project Managers. The Lead Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the planning phase of significant projects, focusing on initiatives that support the long-term goals for diagnostic services within the Trust.

The Lead Project Coordinator will be responsible for the successful delivery of key strategic IT initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Trust's PMO framework. Key duties include:
- Delivering projects in alignment with established milestones, budgets, and timelines, while demonstrating success through measurable outcomes and key performance indicators.
- Maintaining project plans, including regular reporting, monthly updates, risk management logs, and exception reports to ensure all work remains on track to meet agreed objectives.
- Collaborating with the Project Board and end-users to design process changes that align with system functionalities and mitigate associated risks.
- Engaging with both internal and external suppliers to guarantee effective project delivery within the defined timeframes, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- A degree or equivalent experience.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
Desirable
- MSP qualification.
- ITIL qualification.
