Join a Unique Career Path in Healthcare

Are you currently employed in the healthcare sector and seeking a new direction? If you are a registered nurse (RGN, RMN, or RNLD), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic, your expertise can be utilized in a transformative role as a functional specialist.

Role Overview

As a functional specialist, you will be responsible for preparing detailed reports that assist the Department for Communities (DfC) in making critical decisions regarding individuals' health and care needs.

Daily Responsibilities

Your role will involve conducting various assessments, including initial reviews, paper-based evaluations, and face-to-face, video, or telephone consultations. These assessments aim to determine how a claimant's health condition or disability impacts their daily activities.

With our client's hybrid working model, you will primarily work from home while being assigned to your nearest assessment center on a rotating schedule for in-person evaluations. Additional time will be allocated for team meetings, training sessions, and mentorship.

In your reporting duties, you will observe and document an individual's capacity to perform daily tasks while analyzing clinical data and supporting evidence. You will produce three comprehensive reports, each ranging from 3,000 to 4,000 words, based on the evidence collected for each claimant daily. Training will be provided to ensure that detailed evidence and justification are included to support the DWP's decision-making process.

What We Offer

This role presents unique challenges that differ from traditional healthcare positions, which is why our client prioritizes your training and professional growth. You will commence with a structured 12-week training program (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM), with dedicated time for self-directed learning. Options for 3-day and 4-day training schedules are also available.

The initial six months may present challenges, but you will receive close mentorship to aid your ongoing development. The starting salary is £38,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time), along with a 5% retention bonus. Upon achieving remote-approved status, your salary will increase to £39,900, with the potential for an additional 10% bonus. After achieving face-to-face delivery status, your salary will rise to £41,500, plus up to a 10% bonus.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of post-registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic.
  • Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or equivalent), without restrictions, and possessing a valid PIN.
  • Exceptional observational and communication skills, enabling you to listen, empathize, and explore deeper insights.
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
  • Proven experience in using IT and Microsoft Office, along with remote access to systems such as MS Teams.
