Clinical Director of Midwifery Services

We are seeking an experienced clinical leader to join our team as Director of Midwifery. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the delivery of high-quality midwifery services across our health board.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and clinical leadership to our midwifery services, ensuring that care is delivered in a safe and effective manner. You will work closely with our executive team to develop and implement governance frameworks that support service delivery and drive improvement.
Main Responsibilities- Provide expert strategic and clinical leadership to our midwifery services
- Develop and implement governance frameworks to support service delivery
- Work closely with our executive team to drive improvement and innovation
- Ensure that care is delivered in a safe and effective manner
- Lead and manage a team of midwives and other healthcare professionals
- Registered midwife with current Nursing & Midwifery registration
- Significant post-registration experience at a very senior nursing level
- Educated up to Masters level or has equivalent specialist training
- Extensive in-depth knowledge of issues across the NHS and patient agenda
- Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to professional midwifery and nursing practice
- Good understanding of research
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
- Significant post-registration experience at a very senior midwifery level
- Significant senior operational management experience across healthcare settings
- Experience of developing governance frameworks to support service delivery
- Experience of leading and implementing service improvement/redesign in healthcare
- Proven ability to work across systems, organisational boundaries, develop networks, and alliances
- Experience of managing professional issues/litigation
