Position Overview

They will engage across the entire Directorate to propel the service towards optimal outcomes for users, ensuring that care is administered safely while consistently pursuing excellence within available resources.

The successful candidate will deliver expert strategic and clinical guidance, holding overarching professional leadership accountability for Quality Governance within Midwifery & Women's Services.

In this capacity, you will actively participate in the development of long-term strategic initiatives to inform operational execution. You will be a knowledgeable, empathetic, and transformative leader, adept at fostering robust relationships with key stakeholders as you assist the organization in its pursuit of excellence. This will involve collaborative efforts with other Health Boards to consider regional and specialized planning as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

This senior leadership position is integral to the Planned and Specialist Care Clinical Care group, reporting professionally to the Executive Director of Nursing, Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience. You will provide specialized strategic and operational counsel on matters pertaining to Women's and Children's Services across the Health Board. You will bear professional accountability for the quality and safety of Women & Children's service delivery, ensuring adherence to professional standards and compliance with Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) regulations.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Registered midwife with current Nursing & Midwifery registration
  • Extensive post-registration experience at a senior nursing level
  • Education up to Master's level or equivalent specialized training
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • In-depth knowledge of NHS issues and patient care agendas
  • Thorough understanding of current professional midwifery and nursing practices
  • Solid grasp of research methodologies
