About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Peer Support Worker Apprentice to join our team at Oxford Health NHS Trust. As a Senior Peer Support Worker Apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting our Peer Support Workers, team members, and service users in their mental health journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the current Peer Support Workers to successfully embed the role within the clinical area, providing guidance and mentoring on using their lived experience to support others.
  • Provide support with individual service users and lead or co-lead groups, promoting their recovery and independence.
  • Draw on your personal experience of recovery to provide emotional and practical support to service users, helping them to identify and build their own support network.
  • Support service users to engage effectively with care being offered and access appropriate services, promoting their overall well-being.
  • Build relationships founded on the value of mutuality, facilitating the provision of regular and practical support to service users in developing and managing independence and maintaining dignity and self-respect.
  • Challenge discrimination and reduce the stigma of mental ill health, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
  • Role-model individual recovery journeys, promoting independent living and self-respect among service users.
Requirements
  • Ability to offer specialist support using your personal experience of recovery.
  • Demonstrate the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality, professional boundaries, and actively promote positive role modeling.
  • Ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
