Role Responsibilities

As a Corporate Legal Advisor, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for providing essential support to Post Office in a variety of commercial dispute scenarios.

Reporting directly to the Head of Legal – Dispute Resolution & Brand Protection, the Corporate Legal Advisor will be pivotal in managing legal risks associated with Post Office's operations, which include: overseeing county court claims from customers related to Post Office's extensive network and diverse offerings; evaluating key policies and operational guidelines; delivering legal counsel on potential or ongoing disputes with business partners or suppliers to facilitate effective resolutions, and aiding in training initiatives to help mitigate future disputes.

This position demands a keen ability to identify and address strategic and operational legal challenges while providing clear, precise, and timely advice on a wide array of complex and evolving issues, many of which may be unprecedented. A crucial aspect of this role will involve proactively collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that legal considerations are integrated into all relevant projects and matters. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing direct interactions with stakeholders.

Furthermore, the Corporate Legal Advisor will assist the broader Legal team in achieving their strategic goals, necessitating close collaboration with their line manager, other Heads of Legal, the Legal Director, and colleagues throughout the Legal department.

Qualifications
  • Years of post-qualification experience in civil litigation and dispute resolution, primarily gained at a leading private practice law firm or as an in-house attorney at a junior to middle management level, with a proven ability to influence and communicate effectively; demonstrable leadership experience; the capacity to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; a solid understanding of court procedures and commercial law.
  • Ongoing compliance with SRA/Bar Council Code of Conduct regarding professional conduct, ethics, and client care, and eligible to practice as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and/or entitled to practice as a Barrister.
