We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Visual Impairment (VI) team as a Senior Specialist Learning Support Officer. The successful candidate will provide excellent support to children and young people with a visual or multi-sensory impairment, working in partnership with schools, professionals, and other agencies to ensure inclusive education.
About the RoleThe Senior Specialist Learning Support Officer will be responsible for managing a caseload of children with complex needs, providing advice and strategies to support their inclusion in education. The role will involve working with other learning support officers, advisory teachers, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of children with complex needs, providing individualized support and advice to schools and parents.
- Work in partnership with schools, professionals, and other agencies to ensure inclusive education for children with visual impairments.
- Develop and implement strategies to support the inclusion of children with visual impairments in education.
- Provide training and support to other learning support officers and advisory teachers on visual impairment and inclusion.
- Collaborate with parents and carers to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience of working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with visual impairments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and professionals.
- Ability to manage a caseload of children with complex needs, providing individualized support and advice.
- Knowledge of visual impairment and inclusion, with the ability to develop and implement strategies to support inclusive education.
- Ability to work autonomously, with a high level of independence and self-motivation.
