About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Emergency Department Leader to join our team at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in promoting change and developing the Paediatric Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team and co-ordinate the flow of the Paediatric Emergency Department, SDEC pathways and management of Paediatric standbys in Resus.
- Manage patient flow and streaming of patients to the most appropriate pathway, such as COAU/ELCAS.
- Escalate issues and support junior staff and the Nurse in Charge.
- Develop and implement staff training and appraisal programs.
- Conduct audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital provides care for both adults and children who attend with serious illness or injury. We have a large catchment area and provide care for approximately 154,000 attendees per year. The department has an 8-bedded resuscitation area and 43 major cubicles.

Person Specification
- 1st Level Registered Paediatric Nurse.
- Paediatric Advanced Life Support Skills.
- Teaching/assessing qualification.
- Manchester Triage Skill/initial and secondary assessment experience.
- Significant Emergency Department paediatric experience.
