Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and proficient Band 7 Physiotherapist specializing in Paediatric Respiratory care to become a vital member of our Paediatric team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role within the Paediatric Physiotherapy and Sleep & Ventilation team, delivering a patient-focused service across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. This service caters to a diverse patient population with Neuromuscular disorders, long-term ventilation needs, and other intricate respiratory challenges.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will collaborate with leading cardio-respiratory healthcare professionals in the UK and Europe. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, including Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physiologists, and the Respiratory Medical team, working in both acute and community environments. Strong teamwork and exceptional communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Your contributions will be vital in maintaining and enhancing the Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy Services, with a specific emphasis on Sleep and Ventilation. You will work closely with the broader Paediatric multidisciplinary team across various hospital sites.

Job Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team alongside the clinical lead in the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of Physiotherapy services for children with Neuromuscular conditions or long-term ventilation needs.
  • Managing a caseload of patients with complex requirements, utilizing evidence-based and client-centered approaches to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Providing education and training to families, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Employing validated outcome measures and establishing individualized patient goals.
  • Supporting clinical leads in mentoring senior and junior staff through regular supervision and performance evaluations.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the Paediatric Physiotherapy Service and collaborating with acute physiotherapy teams to unify services across multiple sites.
  • Ensuring the professional development and performance of physiotherapy staff in pediatrics and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervising and assessing the performance of junior physiotherapy staff and students to ensure adherence to departmental standards.
  • Maintaining and enhancing clinical governance, evidence-based practice, and quality assurance in your designated area.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professional Council.
  • Extensive postgraduate experience in cardiorespiratory and paediatric care.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Understanding of cardiorespiratory physiology and pathophysiology.

Desirable:

  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • Completion of accredited clinical courses related to paediatric respiratory care.

  • Ability to assess and treat complex paediatric patients.
  • Strong clinical decision-making and reasoning skills.
