Senior Specialist Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality respiratory physiotherapy services to patients with complex respiratory conditions.
Main Responsibilities- Provide advanced respiratory physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients with long-term ventilation (LTV) and chronic respiratory conditions, including those with multi-pathologies and complex presentations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including clear escalation and weaning plans, using a wide range of treatment skills and devices.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide respiratory physiotherapy support and advice, and to facilitate early discharge from hospital and prevention of admissions.
- Teach physiotherapy techniques and deliver education to families, carers, schools, and patients, using advanced communication skills and organizational abilities.
- Contribute to service development and change management, including scoping other services, exploring current research, and conducting regular service reviews and audits.
- Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy/HCPC Registration.
- MSc in a relevant subject or equivalent level of post-graduate specialist training, including short courses or specific training in respiratory physiotherapy.
- Extensive post-registration experience in respiratory physiotherapy management, including LTV, neuromuscular respiratory dysfunction, acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
- Broad range of experience at Band 5 level, including respiratory, rehabilitation, and outpatients, and significant experience in Paediatric Care at Band 6.
- Experience of working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, including those with complex team dynamics, and experience of managing other physiotherapists, student supervision, and clinical education.
- Experience of service development and change management, and participation in Paediatric Respiratory Out of Hours working.
- Advanced clinical reasoning and knowledge of a wide range of assessment and treatment techniques.
- Ability to teach in a range of settings, including clinical and academic.
- Remains updated with professional practice and new research.
- Competent IT skills, including word, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and the ability to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner.
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for physiotherapy services, including experience of quality issues and audit.
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities, and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients.
