About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic psychiatrist to lead our team at Baldock Manor, a 40-bed hospital in north Hertfordshire providing specialist psychiatric services for adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive treatment service for patients with mental health problems, based on evidence-based practice.
  • Provide expert advice on psychiatric care and take overall responsibility for a defined caseload of patients.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to foster positive working relationships and ensure effective care delivery.
  • Oversee the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring systems are in place for appraisal and revalidation.
  • Represent the business externally, raising the profile of the business and establishing working relationships with commissioners and other key partners.
  • Participate in quality enhancement and service evaluation projects, and contribute to research relevant to service improvement.
  • Lead the CPD programme for the hospital and foster a culture of learning.
Requirements
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and in good CPD standing
  • Current registration with GMC
  • At least five years' experience in an in-patient setting
  • Experience of working in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Acute Services
  • Ability to take independent clinical decisions and demonstrate clinical leadership
