Job Summary:

The Counsellor and Wellbeing Adviser will play a pivotal role in supporting students' mental health and wellbeing through individual and group counselling, workshops, and drop-in services. This position requires a registered professional with substantial counselling experience, particularly with children and young people, along with strong empathy, communication, and caseload management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidential records and adhere to safeguarding policies
  • Collaborate with the College's support services to ensure a holistic approach to wellbeing
  • Provide individual and group counselling, workshops, and drop-in services to students
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and external agencies
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in counselling and wellbeing

Requirements:

  • Registered professional with a qualification in Counselling at Diploma Level or higher
  • Member of an ethical body, such as BACP, UKCP, or NCS
  • Significant understanding and experience of providing a professional Wellbeing Support service, particularly with children and young people
  • Strong empathy, communication, and caseload management skills
  • Able to work well, independently and in a team
  • Good understanding of the safeguarding process and knowledge of external support agencies, data protection regulations, crisis management, and referral procedures
