We are seeking a dedicated professional with a background in community pediatric nursing, experience in children's continence, and a strong understanding of the special education environment.
The School Nursing Team is responsible for providing comprehensive health care to children with intricate health requirements attending various special schools. Key responsibilities include conducting health evaluations, developing and revising care plans, managing urgent health situations, and offering training to educational personnel. The team also prepares reports and participates in safeguarding conferences.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals and educational staff to support and empower children, adolescents, and their families, enhancing health outcomes and ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Primary Responsibilities
The Specialist Schools Nursing Team provides health services to children and young individuals with complex health needs aged 3-19 in an educational setting. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting health assessments and maintaining updated care plans.
- Managing emergency health situations and training school staff.
- Ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care across multiple campuses.
The post holder will work in partnership with a range of professionals involved in the care of children and young people, including therapists, educators, and social services, to foster health improvements and empower families.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- NMC Registered Nurse (adult, child, or learning disability).
- Diploma or Degree in nursing.
- Experience working with children and young people with special needs.
- Experience in multidisciplinary team settings.
- Experience managing complex health needs.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a special school or community setting.
- Experience with children with severe learning disabilities and complex health needs.
