Position Overview

  • Role: Tech Camp Leader
  • Reports to: Camp Manager
  • Employment Type: Seasonal role during school holidays.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (with an earlier start on Mondays at 8:00 AM for setup, compensated as overtime).

Role Summary

The Tech Camp Leader is accountable for the effective implementation of our technology-focused programs while ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. We seek passionate and skilled individuals to uphold our mission of 'Inspiring Children Every Day'.

As the Tech Camp Leader, you will facilitate engaging technology and coding sessions for groups of children aged 8 to 14. You will lead, motivate, and support your team of instructors to collaboratively create enjoyable and educational experiences.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with all operational policies and procedures, and maintaining communication with parents and school representatives as needed. In addition to leading activities, you will contribute to the overall care and support provided by the Ultimate Activity team, with a Camp Manager available for assistance on care and parental matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct technology activities for children aged 8-14, emphasizing engagement, skill enhancement, and enjoyment.
  • Oversee a team of staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and activities in line with Ultimate Activity standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all camp policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, while implementing new strategies to maintain a secure environment for both staff and children.
  • Engage with children outside of scheduled activities to foster a supportive environment.
  • Handle administrative tasks and serve as the primary contact for parents of children attending the camp.
  • Embody the Ultimate Activity promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and maintain a professional demeanor throughout your employment.
  • Exhibit the necessary energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout the season, acting as a role model for the children.
  • Perform additional tasks as required (e.g., equipment maintenance and ordering).

Essential Qualifications

  • Possess or be pursuing relevant qualifications in IT education, Computer Science, or a related Digital Media field (programming experience preferred). Alternatively, self-taught individuals with demonstrable programming knowledge, particularly in JavaScript or Python, are encouraged to apply.
  • A dynamic and enthusiastic individual with experience working with children and a passion for fostering their IT skills, capable of adapting instruction based on age and ability.
  • A natural leader with prior management experience, ideally in IT education or camp settings.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service, confident in engaging with parents and school staff.
  • Possess problem-solving abilities and patience, able to assist individuals through challenges with a positive attitude.
  • A candidate seeking a rewarding and enjoyable role during school holidays, with aspirations to advance in ICT education or childcare.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold a Paediatric First Aid qualification (6 or 12 hours) or be willing to obtain one through Ultimate Activity.
