Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Editorial Director to join our team at Penguin Random House Group. As a key member of our publishing team, you will be responsible for growing our children's book list, identifying and acquiring new talent, and developing innovative publishing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Publisher to develop and implement a growth strategy for our children's book list
  • Identify and acquire new picture book authors and illustrators to contribute to our list
  • Develop and build new novelty series and non-fiction publishing initiatives
  • Collaborate with agents and authors to negotiate contracts and develop relationships
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and competitor activity to inform publishing decisions

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of creating bestsellers and growing publishing lists
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK and international rights markets
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Established network of agent and author relationships
  • Experience in novelty and/or colour non-fiction publishing an advantage
