Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a role within the Endoscopy Department at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive administrative and clerical assistance to the Endoscopy Department. As the administrative coordinator, you will serve as the initial point of contact for the Endoscopy Unit, ensuring exceptional customer service and a positive experience for patients.

The ideal candidate must possess outstanding communication and organizational abilities, the capacity to prioritize their workload effectively, and maintain a professional demeanor.

They should be adept at interacting professionally with patients and collaborating with colleagues at all levels, including senior consultants and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves providing reception support for the Endoscopy service, which includes:

Welcoming patients upon their arrival into the Endoscopy patient management system.

Coordinating with clinical personnel and booking clerks regarding appointments.

Entering clinical and administrative patient information into the system.

Communicating with the transport desk to arrange patient transportation.

Addressing telephone inquiries from patients, caregivers, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals concerning appointments and patient record management.

Preparing for endoscopy clinics by gathering patient information for each session.

Collaborating with nursing staff regarding patient arrivals for clinics and managing potential delays.

Job Requirements

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience in a reception role, preferably within a healthcare setting
  • Experience interacting with a diverse range of individuals, ideally in a caring environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the NHS and Endoscopy services
  • Familiarity with hospital databases
  • Proficiency in various IT applications, such as Word and Outlook

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE grade A - C or equivalent in English language
