Electrical Project Lead Job Description

Gordon Murray Group is a UK-based luxury brand dedicated to creating and manufacturing exceptional driving cars. We're seeking an experienced Electrical Project Lead to join our team and contribute to the development of our ultra-exclusive vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our in-house experts, development partners, and Tier 1 suppliers to deliver the overall electrical system for one of our exciting vehicle programmes.
  • Work closely with the Software and Controls Chief Engineer and Principal engineers for EDS and electrical CAD to ensure timely delivery of technical requirements.
  • Lead a matrix team of electrical engineers to achieve project milestones within the target timeframe.
  • Oversee project deliverables throughout the project life cycle, including engineering process requirements, engineering releases, cost, timing, and weight management.
  • Coordinate multi-party activities with the PMO and other departments to ensure synchronized delivery of electrical systems.
  • Represent the Electrical Department in status meetings and project reviews.
  • Review and approve requirements specifications, timing plans, systems calibration, and validation requirements.
  • Ensure the team delivers a vehicle solution compliant with functional safety, legislative, electrical, environmental, and EMC requirements.
  • Lead system review, verification, and validation activities, including FMEAs, FuSa, test planning, and functionality reviews.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to manage supplier relationships and coordinate logistics.
  • Provide detailed requirements to Tier 1 suppliers to enable on-time delivery.
  • Support Manufacturing and Service departments.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in system/component design and delivery within an automotive/aerospace/transport or similar engineering environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding of automotive electrical architectures and underlying network and diagnostic technologies.
  • Experience with APQP, six sigma, or similar frameworks (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP, etc.) and full product lifecycle activities.
  • Proven track record of running complex projects, including time and cost estimation, resource planning, issue tracking, risk management, and status reporting.
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplined teams and drive suppliers to deliver against time and budget.
  • Articulate, inspiring, and self-motivated, with a strong ability to present complex concepts at senior management level.
  • Possession of an Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive, or similar honours engineering degree.
  • Full driving license and no visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union.
