Safeguarding Adults Project Coordinator

Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom Essex County Council Full time

This is a fixed-term opportunity for a 12-month period.

In collaboration with the statutory Essex Safeguarding Adults Board (ESAB), hosted by Adult Social Care, this position is pivotal in facilitating the integration of insights gained from Safeguarding Adult Reviews. The role emphasizes a holistic family-centered approach and enhances the visibility of transitional safeguarding for adults within Essex. This is a dynamic and prominent position that requires close collaboration with ESAB partners throughout the region.

The Safeguarding Adults Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of learnings derived from completed Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs). This includes identifying and establishing processes for a Whole Family Approach and transitional safeguarding practices across the ESAB multi-agency collaboration.

In this role, you will manage three key project areas: the integration of learnings from SARs, the transition from children’s to adult services, and the Whole Family Approach. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Enhancing partners' capabilities to effectively direct individuals and referrers to appropriate support services, ensuring a cohesive understanding of each other's roles and addressing any existing gaps in knowledge.
  • Identifying barriers and improving access to information and assistance for individuals with care and support needs, including gathering feedback from those with lived experiences and underrepresented groups, while promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Ensuring that all information regarding SAR Action Plan outcomes is based on evidence and includes accountability measures.
  • Assessing how effectively practice improvements and learnings from SAR outcomes are integrated within organizations.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • A degree or equivalent experience, with a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and expertise in relevant fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including the ability to review, compile, and interpret complex information.
  • Proven ability to coordinate, administer, and document intricate multi-agency meetings.
  • Experience in managing competing priorities and workloads to meet strict deadlines.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and distressing information with care.
  • Strong understanding of relevant guidelines and legislation concerning multi-agency safeguarding frameworks.
  • Confidence and assertiveness in engaging with senior officers across diverse organizations to ensure information delivery.
  • Ability to independently determine appropriate actions in response to inquiries and provide clear, concise information.
