Safeguarding Adults Board Project Coordinator

Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom Essex County Council Full time

This is a fixed-term opportunity for a project coordinator role.

As part of the statutory Essex Safeguarding Adults Board (ESAB), hosted by Adult Social Care, this position is dedicated to overseeing the integration of insights gained from Safeguarding Adult Reviews. The focus will be on implementing a family-centered approach and enhancing the visibility of transitional safeguarding for adults in Essex. This is a dynamic and prominent role that requires close collaboration with ESAB partners throughout Essex.

The ESAB Project Coordinator will manage the integration of lessons learned following the completion of Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs). Responsibilities include identifying and executing processes for a Whole Family Approach and managing the transitional safeguarding processes across the ESAB multi-agency collaboration.

This role encompasses three key areas of project work: embedding learning from Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs), managing transitions from Children’s to Adult Services, and promoting a Whole Family Approach. Specific objectives include:

  • Enhancing partners' capabilities to effectively direct individuals and referrers to appropriate support resources, ensuring a cohesive understanding of each other's roles and addressing any gaps in shared knowledge.
  • Identifying barriers and improving access to assistance and information for individuals with care and support needs, including gathering feedback from those with lived experiences and underrepresented groups, while ensuring Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Ensuring that all information related to SAR Action Plan outcomes is evidence-based and that accountability measures are in place.
  • Assessing how practice improvements and learning from SAR outcomes are integrated within organizations.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • A degree or equivalent experience, with a strong commitment to professional development and a solid understanding of relevant professional areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including the ability to review, compile, and interpret complex information.
  • Proven ability to coordinate, administer, and document complex multi-agency meetings.
  • Experience in managing competing priorities and workloads to meet strict deadlines.
  • Capability to handle sensitive and distressing information with care.
  • Strong understanding of relevant guidelines and legislation concerning multi-agency safeguarding frameworks.
  • Confidence and assertiveness in pursuing information from senior officials across various organizations.
  • Ability to independently determine appropriate actions in response to inquiries and provide clear, concise information.

Essex County Council is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader and are dedicated to interviewing all disabled applicants who meet the minimum job requirements. We also welcome applications from veterans and care leavers.

As part of your employment with Essex County Council, if your role requires a DBS check, you will need to register with the DBS update service, which ensures that all registered DBS certificates are kept current.
