Position Overview

Lloyd's is looking for a Manager of Operational Risk to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract. This role is pivotal in the successful development and implementation of Lloyd's risk framework, ensuring that the key risks faced by the organization are thoroughly understood and effectively managed.

The successful candidate will engage strategically with various functions responsible for operational risk management, providing essential oversight and constructive challenge to risk exposures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance and operate the framework to identify, assess, and monitor operational risks associated with Lloyd's, focusing on people, processes, systems, and external factors.
  • Deliver robust risk oversight and constructive feedback to the designated functions managing operational risks, recommending improvements to the control environment as necessary.
  • Continuously monitor key current and emerging operational risks impacting Lloyd's.
  • Lead strategic reviews of significant risk areas, reporting findings to senior management as required.
  • Support Lloyd's engagement with regulatory bodies concerning operational risks, particularly in relation to operational resilience.
  • Collaborate with executive management to ensure that Lloyd's operational resilience aligns with the risk appetite set by the Council, enabling the organization to fulfill its core services and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide regular updates to management and relevant governance forums, including the Risk Committee.
  • Participate actively in management and risk governance forums and project meetings.
  • Contribute to the effective delivery of the Lloyd's risk framework, including support for the Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) process to assure the Council that risks are managed within the established appetite.
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, to gather, evaluate, and report critical risk information, such as reviewing the Lloyd's risk register and risk appetites.
  • Produce various regular and ad hoc reports to furnish risk committees with the necessary management information for assessing risk exposures.
  • Respond agilely to requests from the Chief Risk Officer or Head of Risk Management for ad hoc projects.
  • Support the broader Risk & Regulatory Function and the Corporation in addressing risks and issues stemming from Lloyd's risk profile.
  • Effectively collaborate with risk representatives and specialists embedded throughout the organization.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience in a high-performing team achieving successful risk management outcomes.
  • Strong skills in managing complex stakeholder communications and negotiations.
  • Experience in engaging with senior stakeholders, including those who may be challenging or unsupportive.
  • Solid understanding of risk management frameworks, tools, and processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management principles.
  • Familiarity with the insurance industry and the Lloyd's market is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of business operations, processes, and associated risks, including those related to people, processes, and technology.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills to cultivate relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
