Position: Principal Engineer – Product Safety Engineering
Location: Flexible working arrangements available

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within an Integrated Development Team to design and implement submarine systems and capabilities.
- Focus on the completion of Product Safety tasks and activities across various systems, ensuring alignment with project milestones throughout the Engineering Life Cycle Management.
- Support Hazard Identification and Analysis initiatives.
- Assist in the creation or review of safety documentation.
- Ensure adherence to the project Safety Management System within the Integrated Development Team.
- Coordinate with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum predicted classification of 2:2.
- Knowledge of Safety and Systems Engineering principles and the Engineering Life Cycle Management process.
- Experience in team collaboration and the ability to work independently.
- Adaptability to changing work practices and customer requirements.
- Self-driven with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Practical experience in Product Safety Engineering within the maritime defense sector is preferred, though candidates from other sectors will be considered.

About the Safety & Environmental Team:
This role is ideal for those interested in submarine operations and the Royal Navy's submarine management. As a Product Safety Engineer, you will work alongside System Engineers to influence the development of submarine systems and capabilities. You will gain insights into the functioning of submarine systems and ensure that safety considerations are integrated into system interactions.
This position allows for involvement in all facets of safety management and safety case development, including safety requirements management, hazard identification, hazard data management, application of the ALARP principle, and the creation and maintenance of safety documentation. This role provides a unique opportunity to understand a complex system such as a submarine. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates.
