Job Summary

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our sales and marketing team, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and developing strategic partnerships with clients.

About the Role

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue from conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, clients, and competitor venues to stay informed on market trends and maximize opportunities.
  • Attend and exhibit at trade shows, networking events, and industry forums to promote ICE Group and generate new business leads.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to attract customers through targeted market segmentation and effective sales campaigns.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly sales reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support and develop junior sales staff, providing mentoring and guidance to enhance their proactive sales skills and ensure sales targets are met.
  • Liaise with the events and revenue management teams to ensure smooth handover of sales bookings and maintain high standards of customer service throughout the client journey.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the events, hospitality, or conference sectors is essential.
  • A proactive sales mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present professionally to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service, combined with the ability to understand and respond to client needs.
  • A strong understanding of the MICE market and the ability to stay informed on industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Background using Rendezvous, Fidelio, or Delphi diary systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to travel when required for trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.
