Position Overview

The Havens, a prominent Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in London, is dedicated to providing specialized support for individuals who have experienced sexual violence. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Mayors' Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and NHS England, aimed at enhancing the care provided to victims of sexual assault. The service is delivered by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is committed to offering comprehensive forensic, medical, and psychosocial support to those affected by serious sexual offenses.

Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate clinician to join our adult therapies service. The successful candidate will work with adults who have recently faced sexual violence and trauma. Candidates should possess relevant experience in psychological assessment and intervention, both in individual therapy and group settings. Proficiency in risk assessment and management within mental health and safeguarding contexts is essential, along with experience in delivering short to medium-term therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality therapeutic services to adults affected by sexual assault.
  2. Manage a caseload effectively, including waitlists and safeguarding responsibilities.
  3. Conduct psychological assessments and formulate treatment plans based on established frameworks.
  4. Implement a variety of psychological interventions tailored to individual needs, addressing issues such as PTSD, anxiety, and relationship difficulties.
  5. Engage with external agencies to facilitate comprehensive support for clients.
  6. Provide crisis intervention for individuals experiencing severe emotional distress related to their trauma.
  7. Maintain a non-judgmental and confidential environment to uphold the integrity of the therapeutic relationship.
  8. Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Havens Therapies service.
  9. Participate in training, supervision, and professional development activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold a Doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). For psychotherapists, a recognized professional qualification at the graduate level with relevant postgraduate experience is required. Candidates should also have experience in managing complex clinical cases and possess strong communication skills.
