Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated psychological therapist to join our Neuropsychiatry Service, focusing on the mental health needs of individuals with neurological conditions.
The Neuropsychiatry Service operates as an outpatient facility, providing comprehensive assessment and therapeutic interventions for adults experiencing psychiatric challenges related to neurological disorders. Our multidisciplinary team comprises neuropsychiatrists, trainees, specialty doctors, nurses, and clinical psychologists, all committed to delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough psychological evaluations of clients referred to the service, utilizing a variety of assessment tools and methodologies.
- Collaborating with the neuropsychiatry team to develop and implement tailored treatment plans based on individual client needs.
- Delivering a range of psychological therapies, primarily focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), while also being open to other therapeutic modalities.
- Providing expert psychological advice and consultation to other healthcare professionals involved in client care.
- Engaging in risk assessment and management to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
- Maintaining clear and sensitive communication regarding assessment outcomes and treatment progress with clients and their support networks.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Doctoral-level training in clinical or counselling psychology, accredited by the relevant professional bodies.
- Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist or eligibility for accreditation as a CBT Therapist.
- Experience in providing psychological assessment and treatment across various healthcare settings.
Desirable:
- Specialized training in treating functional neurological disorders.
- Experience in teaching, training, or supervising other professionals.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
- Proficiency in complex psychological assessment and intervention techniques.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey sensitive information effectively.
- Ability to provide consultation and support to multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of specialized psychological therapies for challenging client groups.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and mental health frameworks.
