Position Overview

Band 7 Psychological Therapist

Part-Time hours per week

We are looking to appoint an innovative and proactive Psychological Therapist to join our Psychological Therapies Team.

Our organization is a leading provider of integrated healthcare services, offering a unique blend of traditional and complementary therapies for a diverse range of health issues.

The Psychological Therapies Team is a dynamic and supportive group of professionals dedicated to delivering a variety of evidence-based psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). We cater to patients facing complex and chronic health challenges, including but not limited to chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Our team maintains strong collaborative relationships with other psychological services and training programs.

Key Responsibilities

Within our team, there is a strong emphasis on adopting trauma-informed and sensory-focused approaches to support individuals with these conditions. We encourage professionals who are eager to enhance their expertise in these areas and contribute to the growth of psychological services.

The role involves conducting psychological evaluations and providing brief therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing a range of psychological challenges associated with their physical health conditions. Additionally, the position includes a consultative component, which involves offering training and guidance to fellow clinicians, as well as engaging in quality improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Essential

Doctoral-level training in clinical or counseling psychology, covering models of psychopathology, clinical assessment, neuropsychology, multiple therapeutic modalities, and developmental psychology, accredited by the relevant professional body. Registration as a practitioner psychologist with the appropriate regulatory authority.

Desirable

Training in therapeutic models suitable for addressing complex physical and mental health issues.

Experience

Essential

Proven experience in specialized psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings, including outpatient, community, and inpatient environments. Experience working with diverse client populations, managing a wide range of clinical presentations while maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.

Desirable

Experience in physical healthcare settings. Familiarity with treating individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome and/or fibromyalgia. Experience working with neurodiverse populations.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Proficiency in utilizing advanced psychological assessment and intervention techniques requiring sustained focus and concentration. In-depth knowledge of research methodologies, study design, and complex data analysis. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex and sensitive information effectively to clients, families, and colleagues.

Desirable

Understanding of specialized group therapy techniques for challenging cases.

Additional Requirements

Essential

Ability to educate and train others using diverse multimedia resources suitable for various audiences. Capability to implement clinical governance mechanisms to uphold clinical standards in emotionally charged situations.

Desirable

Experience working within a multicultural context. Experience managing high-emotion scenarios effectively. Experience collaborating with other services within and outside the healthcare system.
