Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Education Officer to join our dedicated and skilled Education, Engagement and Wellbeing team at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

About the Role

This is a part-time (30.5 hours per week), permanent position based at our Grassington office, with the potential for some home working. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the planning, design, and delivery of our education programme for schools and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement creative and innovative ways to connect young people with the special qualities of the National Park, meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum and promoting pro-environmental behaviour.
  • Plan and deliver safe, enjoyable, and informative activities for school children and students from early years through to tertiary education, including fieldwork sessions, enquiry-based work, classroom-based lessons, assemblies, talks, and walks.
  • Collaborate with the team to prepare and plan for the delivery of educational activities, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants.
  • Engage with parents and families to promote the importance of nature connection for young people's health and wellbeing.
  • Travel within the Park to undertake this post, requiring access to a car or a means of mobility support.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree and experience of teaching or leading educational groups outdoors.
  • Knowledge of the importance of nature connection for young people's health and wellbeing.
  • Ability to work with schools and families to deliver educational activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
